We’re not recruiting at the moment. We’re ok with pilots and a bit over staffed CC wise, except for Pursers and Chief Pursers, where we are short staffed. There’s been quite a few departures (retirement) and they’ll absorb the over staffing with promotions and other retirement departures.
France has a 56yo departure age (voluntary), but you can also receive aid from the State if you want to retrain into another job.
Yeah, it's been a long time since we've recruited in big numbers. We had a small intake in 2018 or so. It's good to see some new faces with enthusiasm. As I said a few times "wait until Summer hits" and I can't wait to see what you think at the end of the year at GRT Sensible age demographic too. We're beginning to see the retirement rates increase. Over the next 10 years, many of us will be gone, me included.
Well we managed to recruit about 90 of the 110 pilots we need. Might do another round in Summer. Training slots are nearly impossible to get.
According to rumours about 5 or 6 failed the drug test and about 10 pilots accepted other offers.
2 have gone back to their previous employer. Emirates chucked so much money at the 2 A380 captains, it was a no brainer for them. Others have said no to their former employers offers.
I've heard from some line trainers etc that the new guys are fitting in nicely and are very sharp.
